Contributing to AuTechHeads benefits all of us - but we firmly believe you should retain ownership of your content.
Contributions to AuTechHeads are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license. The intent here is that it's your content, to do with as you wish. We don't own it. We won't sell it or modify it. We recognise your right to be recognised as the owner. You have every right to post it elsewhere, to expand it, to sell it - it's yours.
We currently display ads on the site - this is a trial on whether they could help to cover costs, and they're only displayed for anonymous and unverified visitors. All money is put straight back into the group and site.

The benefit to AuTechHeads and its members is that it allows us to share interesting content and knowledge. It helps to engage and involve more people, and it helps to grow the site and group further. As we grow, we improve still further. One example is in AuTechHeads events - the more members, and the more engaged they are, the better for us as a group in negotiating with sponsors. More sponsors means more and bigger events, and an ability to make them free (or significantly reduced in cost).
The benefit to you is that you get a broader audience, one that is technical and interested in what you have to say, and an ability to positively affect a community of your peers. The idea is that we can learn from one another, and by sharing what we know, we improve one another and the community in general - while reaping benefits like organised events.
We welcome cross-posts of interesting blogs/articles that you have written. Naturally we don't want all posts to be cross-posts - there's value in unique content - but it's up to you. We've had plenty of members post to both their own blogs and here, and that's fine.
We ask that content be interesting and relevant - we are a site and group for technology professionals, or geeks as we sometimes like to say. It's a broad area, and there's plenty of material that could fall under this. We don't think underwear reviews really have a place here, though.
We do not, of course, accept spam - we have a zero tolerance attitude toward it. We have measures in place to discourage spam, and we work to improve them on a regular basis. Posting purely to promote a product or service is spam - but a vendor inviting genuinely open discussion and feedback on their products or services could well be welcome, subject to the judgement of our Core Team and members.
And finally - we don't care if writing isn't your forte. So long as it's comprehensible and interesting. You don't have to contribute posts, either. You can ask questions, or answer them. You can add tech events to our calendar. Or you can read other people's contributions, comment on it, and share it.
AuTechHeads is for you. You can help shape and steer it. All you need to do is jump in and get involved!
